Yvonne Rainer is a highly respected and influential film/videomaker and choreographer. In the early 1960s, she was one of the founders of the Judson Dance Theater, a revolutionary company that joined nondancers and everyday movements into performance. In 1968, she began to integrate short films into her live performances, and four years later, she completed her first feature-length film, Lives of the Performers. By 1975, Rainer made a complete transition to filmmaking, but in 2000 Rainer returned to dance when she was commissioned by the Baryshnikov Dance Foundation to choreograph work for the White Oak Dance Project.

"Out of a Corner of the Sixties" is a slide and video lecture on the diverse cultural events and dance activity in and around Judson Church in Greenwich Village, which influenced modern dance for decades to follow.
