Peter Grendle, John Formby, and chef Fernando Olea

    oaxaquenos provided by Sazon

    $10 general admission/ $5 all members, students

Peter Grendle’s film studies focus on micro-budget production, the visual language, and cinema history. He expressed interest in film at age 13 when he started making movies in middle school to impress girls. He spent nine years managing the art-house wonderland The Screen and now resides at Violet Crown Santa Fe as General Manager, recently winning Best Theater Manager from the Santa Fe Reporter. SciFi 101 will focus on the origin and concept of science fiction, as a genre, sub-genre, and prophetic narrative device in film, print, and more.

Dr. John Formby is an entomologist that focuses on understanding the impacts of invasive and pest insects on native ecosystems. e has worked in a variety of native ecosystems, but more narrowly focuses on forest ecosystems and insects, such as the mountain and spruce pine beetles, which have devastated large parts of the Rocky Mountain forests, from New Mexico to Canada. Dr. Formby will take the audience on a culinary tour of insect dishes around the world and present data on the nutritional and environmental benefits of eating insects in the United States.

Originally from Mexico City, Chef Fernando Olea, currently at Sazon restaurant, has been enthralling diners in Santa Fe since 1991 with his unique interpretation of contemporary and traditional Mexican dishes. At DIgest This! he will be serving baby grasshopper taquitos, also known as oaxaquenos.

Guided by artists, rooted in New Mexico, SITE SANTA FE celebrates contemporary creative expression.
