    My Life in Art

    1:00 PM

    $10 general admission/$5 members, students

My Life in Art is an annual series of lectures that focuses on significant artists, collectors, patrons, dealers, critics, or other art world luminaries.

Carl and his wife, Marilynn, are philanthropists and have been active art collectors since the 1970s. The Thomas founded the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation to support arts and education initiatives. As their collections have evolved, they have contributed to and supported the development of exhibitions, symposia, and publications; the formation of fellowships and awards; and the endowment of professorial chairs and curatorial positions. The Foundation lends and exhibits artworks from the Thomas’ collection of over 900 objects across three distinct fields: Spanish Colonial, Japanese Bamboo, and contemporary, with a major focus on electronic art. Carl currently serves on the boards of the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, SITE Santa Fe, New Mexico School for the Arts, and is a commissioner for the National Portrait Gallery. Carl Thoma is a managing partner of Thoma Bravo, LLC., a private equity firm he founded in 1980.

Margo Thoma is an Illinois native, arrived in Santa Fe in 2006 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Stanford. She co-founded the contemporary art gallery Eight Modern in 2007. In 2014, she acquired TAI Gallery, a well-established Santa Fe gallery known for exhibiting Japanese bamboo art. The two businesses merged to become TAI Modern.

The next two events in part of the ‘My Life in Art’ Public Program series include: Lucy Lippard with Carmella Padilla on July 14 and Harmony Hammond with Holland Cotter on August 24.

    Doors open at 12:30PM.

Guided by artists, rooted in New Mexico, SITE SANTA FE celebrates contemporary creative expression.
