Coffee & Conversations this fall invites you to engage in discussions of simplicity, time, and the promise of the American Dream. Discussion will focus on texts that bring to life aspects of the three current exhibitions on view at SITE SANTA FE: Larry Bell: Improvisations, Sara Genn: How to Build a Sky, and Sayre Gomez: Closed Forever.
December Reading
Larry Bell reportedly names many of his works after H.G. Wells’ writings. The Time Machine, a science fiction novella by Wells and the name of a work in Bell’s Improvisations exhibition, is considered a groundbreaking work that popularized the concept of time travel and the term "time machine." Published in 1895, The Time Machine offers a vision of class divisions and social inequality and takes readers on an adventure through time's darkest possibilities.
The discussion will focus on chapters 4, 5, and 6.
