Coffee & Conversations this fall invites you to engage in discussions of simplicity, time, and the promise of the American Dream. Discussion will focus on texts that bring to life aspects of the three current exhibitions on view at SITE SANTA FE: Larry Bell: Improvisations, Sara Genn: How to Build a Sky, and Sayre Gomez: Closed Forever.
October Reading
Los Angeles-based artist Sayre Gomez creates hyperrealistic paintings of the urban American landscape, the decline of late capitalism, and how hope and disappointment intertwine with the everyday. Howl, written by Allen Ginsberg and published in 1956, is a landmark poem acclaimed for its savage critique of materialism and conformity. It became a defining text of the countercultural movement of the 1950s.
