FREE Drop-in Workshop for Teens

Diego Medina will be hosting a free mural-making workshop at Santa Fe Teen Center. Stop by, pick up a paint brush, and hang out with one of the rising star artists featured in the 12th SITE SANTA FE International.

This workshop will explore the history and impact of the Transcendental Painting Group and their relationship to New Mexico, with an emphasis on the work of Agnes Pelton. Examining their usage of color, shape, light, and composition, participants will explore how TPG artists balanced abstraction with representation to create spiritually charged works that transcended a materialist relationship to the natural world. Workshop attendees will then create their own large-scale landscape painting that utilizes aesthetic techniques of the Transcendental Painting Group to offer a new level of understanding between relationship and place. Participants can drop in and stay for as long as they wish on any day or all weekend.
