Smithson’s Ghosts
Lisa Le Feuvre and Cuauhtémoc Medina in conversation
As part of the Tierra + Cosmos // Land + Cosmos Benefit Weekend, Executive Director of Holt/Smithson Foundation and exhibition co-curator Lisa Le Feuvre takes the stage for a conversation with visiting curator, Cuauhtémoc Medina, Chief Curator at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City.
Robert Smithson’s influence has pressed its way through generations and geographies. In this conversation Le Feuvre and Medina think through these hauntings, discussing Smithson’s art and writings in the context of Latin American artists and the history of international exhibitions from the last decade. Discussing language, belief systems, ruins, entropy, and deep geological time, Le Feuvre and Medina consider why the ghosts of Smithson continue to persist.
