Join artist Sayre Gomez for a conversation about his ongoing exploration of the American landscape, and the process of building a believable fiction from fragments of reality. In dialogue with Brandee Caoba, Gomez will discuss his roots in Los Angeles, his signature painting style, and how the city's overlooked corners find their way into his work. Gomez's solo exhibition at SITE SANTA FE, Closed Forever, features large-scale paintings and sculptures drawn from the strip mall, the convenience store, and the storefront window. They will discuss how these scenes of late-capitalist abandonment double as records of manufactured joy, packaged for consumption.
